Support for Riders

At Lancers, we strongly believe in making the equestrian sport as accessible as possible. We strive to find ways to support riders and are proud to work in combination with Jumpstart and KidSport (through Sport Nova Scotia). The following programs provide support for non-members in our camps and the junior beginner course.

Jumpstart

The Jumpstart Program is a joint effort between HRM Community Recreation Services and the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program to provide recreation opportunities to children, youth and families in financial need.

Jumpstart is designed to provide assistance to those who, due to lack of funds, would otherwise be unable to participate in sport, art, cultural, and recreation activities. At this time, HRM supports registered non-profit organizations only and as Lancers is a non-profit, eligible families can apply to Jumpstart to be able to participate in Lancer programs.

Please note that you must apply directly to JumpStart and if approved JumpStart will cover all or a portion of program fees at Lancers.

Individuals approved for JumpStart will also qualify for a reduced rate for Lancer camps.

KidSport (Sport NS)

KidSport™ is a national children's program that helps kids overcome the financial barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport.  KidSport™ Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300/year/child for sport registration and/or equipment.

Managed and operated in Nova Scotia by Sport Nova Scotia since 1994, KidSport Nova Scotia has assisted over 26,000 children totalling over $6.1 Million. KidSport Nova Scotia provides funding of up to $300/year/child for sport registration and/or equipment.

In 2017 KidSport Nova Scotia allocated over $620,000 to more than 2,200 children from Sydney to Yarmouth.

Individuals approved for KidSport will also qualify for a reduced rate for Lancer camps.

Riders who are already in our Junior membership program, can apply to the Lucy Cuthbertson Memorial Fund for financial support.
