Therapeutic Riding Program
The Halifax Lancers has been home to a therapeutic riding program since the late 1960s when Dr. Crosby and Dr. Grant initiated a riding program for children from the Children’s Hospital and the School for the Blind. We continue to be affiliated with the IWK, and also offer horseback riding to other members of the community with disabilities.
Proceeds go toward specialized equipment and horses.

Urban Equestrian Access Program
Halifax Lancers is a national and international model for equestrian sport development in urban and rural settings in Canada. Equestrian sport is one of the least accessible amateur sports in Canada, particularly in urban environments. As Canada's only urban non-profit riding school and equine therapy centre, Lancers provides access to individuals who otherwise would be less likely to participate in the sport.
Proceeds will go towards purchasing new horses and equipment, and for improvements to our heritage stables, particularly focusing on horse welfare.
Eligible donations of $20 or more, via the National Sport Trust Fund will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Lucy Cuthbertson Memorial Fund
The Lucy Cuthbertson Memorial Fund provides financial support for junior members in need.
As a young girl, Lucy Cuthbertson joined as a rider with the Lancers. Her love of horses and riding meant that she literally grew up at Lancers, becoming a qualified instructor for young riders. In February 2005, Lucy, at the age of 24, died of meningitis. The Lucy Cuthbertson Memorial Fund was set up in her memory.
