Our Featured Volunteer of the Month is Kevin French!

Kevin has been volunteering at Lancers for the last 7 years when both of his kids began riding at Lancers. Kevin is always willing to pitch in with hay and shaving deliveries and is always ready to dive in for any task when more hands are needed.

Kevin does not ride himself; he once did a riding camp for a week in the United States and loved it! Kevin's favourite horse at the barn is jakey because he is a sucker for the cuddly ones! Kevin does see firsthand the impact Lancers has had on both of his kids. “Seeing my kids become so incredibly confident about their horse riding and how far they have come. It has had a big impact on me.”

Kevin also volunteers his time as a canvasser every election and in the past, he has been a tour guide at Pier 21 on Saturdays. Kevin says that volunteering at Lancers does not always require a huge time commitment “I enjoy that I can help out by tossing hay bales on a conveyor belt even though it is just a short stint.”

“ I am so very proud [of my kids] and their dedication to the horses, to their learning, and to Lancers. This has been the most transformative experience I have seen in their lives so I am so proud of Lancers for that!

Kevin has a great appreciation for all that lancers do for youth “the opportunities, the pride, and the skills our kids learn from their riding. I love the horses and the staff, who have always always been so helpful every step of the way. So if I can jump in to help with a delivery, I am happy to!” We appreciate all of the time and efforts Kevin and both of his kids have contributed to Lancers, they all understand Lancer values and work hard to be a part.
